Seeing a Movie, in First Class

I have found the ultimate way to see an in cinema movie.

There’s a place called Gold Class Cinemas. The closest location to Rockford is in South Barrington on 72&59. It’s definitely a “must go see”.

The premise is first class movie viewing. You get to pick and reserve your seat online ahead of time. You show up, order from the appetizer/dinner menu, order a drink and it’s all delivered during the movie. You get your own reclining lounge chair and a call button to summon a waiter. It’s upscale movie viewing at it’s finest.

Tickets are $20 for members (free signup) or $25 for non-members. While it’s a little pricier up front, it’s definitely worth the extra $10 for the perks you get. Also, for this price you get a complimentary bag of popcorn (no refills).

And the food isn’t your typical theater food: No greasy hotdogs and lame nachos. Here you get a selection of gruyere nachos, steak, sophisticated appetizers and if you so desire, they have a full bar menu with beer, cocktails and wine. Food prices range $10-20 depending on what you order. In addition to regular butter popcorn they offer gourmet variates and they offer regular candy items if you are a fan of those during your show.

Here are a few pictures of their lobby, unfortunately I wasn’t able to take any pictures of the theater itself but there are a few pics and videos on their website that show their offering:

So for a few dollars more than AMC you get a custom, almost private movie showing, top of the line food and first class service movie showing. Check it out!

When cinematographers mess up

picture-12

This is a screen cap from BMW’s “The Hire”. This short film, “Hostage”, was directed by  John Woo (if I remember correctly). If you notice in the middle of the shot you can clearly make out the jib and camera’s shadow from the sun (Also the cables running along it). I haven’t ever noticed this until now and this shot gets cut to and taken away pretty quick so it’s not too noticeable, however they’ve lost a notch in my belt as this should have been prevented.

Starwars Lightsabers

Anyone think that they might have just used flourescent tubes?

Just a thought.
